Graph making
I have made these two graphs using the programme excel. I used all my research and information to be put on these graphs and i think the bar graph was a good choice, as its easier to see and to understand for everyone because its straight forward.
The graph above is showing you the levels of how much air pollution is in each country, showing you the population of people breathing in unhealthy air. The numbers are measuring the micrograms in the air of each country around the world, and i picked some of them.
The graph below is about people living in poverty and it shows you the percentage of countries population living on $2 per day or less.

Interviews
I want to make an interview with people because i want to see their view points on poverty and pollution and this will make people more involved about the issue and come together as a community. I want to interview a boy and a girl and i am going to video them and then put their quotes on my article, and also have a picture of them near their quotes.

Graphs with Statistics
I am going to use excel to create my graphs for both poverty and pollution which will have information showing in them. I will then explain what is going on in both of them.
Statistics
I am going to research statistics and facts on poverty and pollution and use it in my article. I am planning to make a graph to show this information.
For Pollution i found some countries around the world have high air pollution such Saudi arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Bangladesh. All of these have high median fine part particulate matter which affects the air we breathe, all the the countries that i mentioned their results are over 80. I am going to use this piece of information and record it on a graph.

For Poverty i found percentages of countries that are living on $2 per day or less since 2005. i have selected some large developing countries such as Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt and many more to include in my graph.

Edited Picture
I used photoshop to edit this picture, i cropped the background and want to use just this image to be the front cover as the audience will just focus on them.
Pictures that i took for article
These are some of the pictures that i took to be featured in my article.
This picture is to be featured in the article as it was the interview and the person who was saying their opinion.

I want to use this picture as maybe for the front cover of my article as a poverty sign for and was also going to edit around as i only wanted the hands.

These pictures i took at a dumping ground in Harrow. I wanted to use these for my article to show pollution as it was the only possible thing as i really wanted factories with smoke.

These pictures are representing children in poverty and maybe my front cover also.

Draft 3
This is my draft 3 and it was the closets to the actual product but i made some changes such as less pages and inserting some colour to make it interesting. Added useful information and took away not necessary ones.
Draft 2
Analyzing a featured article
I have analysed these articles to see what an article layout looks like and what it contains, so i could use it in my article to get ideas and change it to my own style. It made me learn the features of articles and little details it has like the date and its logo and etc.
Drafts of Articles
These are the drafts of when i started making my article.
For this one, this was just the start of the process so i began to put guide lines to see how many boxes i needed depending on how much information i had and i also wanted to see where the title would go. I placed some example information text in the boxes just to see how it would look.

For this one decided to insert some images from google. I wanted to see where the images could possibly be and the left side of the page was supposed to be a collage of poverty and pollution images.
First Idea
This is my first idea that i drew out of my article and it has the introduction with a picture of factories with smoke. i want to take pictures of factories for pollution images and also the garbage place. In the beginning I'm talking about pollution and in the middle I'm talking about poverty and it has a picture above of people living in poverty. Next to it I'm planning to do interviews to get other peoples opinions and views on what they think about poverty and pollution.

Evaluation
I am pleased to say that my final project went well and i am happy with the results of my product. I have done a lot of research over the past couple of months to do with my article and i have managed to put it all on the product. There are some things that i wish i could change in my article like the front cover but overall I am happy with the article inside.
The beginning of this preparation was that we had to write what our idea was for our final project. I had a lot of ideas but I came up with poverty and pollution. I really wanted to talk this topic as I came across it before and really cared about it. I couldn't really decide how I was going to do that so then I thought I will do a feature article, at first I was thinking to do a leaflet but then I thought article would be better as I would like to talk about the issue in more depth and want people to be aware and have knowledge about this.
Through Primary research I began researching different magazine styles and front covers to have an idea of what my article could look like. I also researched the layout and I noticed that different articles have different layouts and there all creative which is something I could use as a guide. I then began researching information based on poverty and pollution and I saw some website like 'plan' which is an organisation to help reduce poverty around the world. I liked this particular campaign as it helped me to understand more about what people go through in terms of battling poverty. I also found similar websites for pollution which also gave me a bigger understating of how pollution is created in the world. After this I had to see what software I am going to use to create the actual article. I came across Microsoft publisher, Indesign and photoshop. My teacher then told me that indesign is better to use as it has all the tools and settings to create a article.
After all the research i then opened up indesign and began playing around with it to get familiar with it. I then made my first draft of my article and it was good and it helped me to see how my feature could look. I used different styles and fonts for the text and was seeing where the pictures could go. I also wanted to do an interview because I wanted other peoples views on poverty and pollution. I wanted an interview from a boy and girl so I asked Hussein and he agreed to it and I also asked Rade and she agreed to it too.
I then began making the real article and I did a lot of preparation at home by drawing them out, and that helped me because it gave me a visual of what it could or would look like. I used all the information that I found and put it in my article from my understanding. I then wanted to know where my pictures could go and I did some research on what camera I should use to take pictures. I went to the technician room and I asked for a canon to take photos and through secondary research I asked the technician which camera is best to take photos with and he told me the nikon was the best and that the canon was more good for filming. I then borrowed the camera and he gave me the Nikon D3100 which is perfect for when taking pictures and used it for the weekend. I then began taking pictures of poverty, I got my little siblings to be actors of children in poverty and it went well and they had fun doing it. For pollution I wanted to take pictures of factories with smoke coming out but I didn't get to so I decided to go to a dumping ground where there is litter everywhere and i thought this would be perfect for it.
When I got back to college I then upload all my photos and used them in my article, I then wanted to do the interview as I was running out of time so I did one for Hussain but I didn't get to do Rade as she was to busy. Using two people for the interview didn't go to plan but I was happy that I at least got one interview which was alright. After that I took pictures of Hussain and put it in my article and next to it was quotes of what he said during the interview. After I did that my article was looking more complete, I also added some colours to make it interesting and appealing to the audience. The only thing I would change on my article would be the front cover as i didn't have enough time to make it look realistic and interesting but I'm happy that i completed everything else inside which is the more important thing.
Overall I really enjoyed this whole experience of making your own product as you become passionate about it over the past couple months with the whole research and the planning with all the filming equipment's to take away. It made me more enthusiastic because I want people to be aware of this and that was the message I was trying to portray through my article. This made me learn more about my issue because before I had small knowledge and now I feel more confident to talk about it with people.

Research on Cameras
I wanted to use a camera to take pictures for my article, so i had to research on what camera i should use. The Nikon D3100 has good clear camera shots and it also has good features such as the exposure. It tells you how much exposure the camera is taking in and that will effect your photo.

Demographics
My featured article is going to be called 'LIFE' magazine and in order for me to make this product i have to search and see what the demographic should be for my product. I have already seen examples of poverty/pollution magazines and for one of the magazines i found 'Time'. I went to research the demographic for it and i think that 'Time' would be the best to choose from as its, really popular and everyone knows and recognizes it when they see it in a front cover. It originates from the united states which then went global around the world.
I went to see the global audience for 'TIME' and it shows that:
Male are 67.5%
Female are 32.5%
Median age is 43
These results show me that men would read a featured article more than woman, and in this case a poverty or a pollution one. Now i know what the demographics are for this specific magazine, i will put into consideration that my product will aim to both genders but more to men and write it in a more mature adult way as its over the 40s. This will help me as i need to know who would actually read my magazine and would they be interested.

Magazines Spreads
I picked out these magazine spreads because I thought they looked interesting and they are all different and i can use some ideas from them for my article, like maybe i could use a blend of all of them.
This one has different fonts like big and small letters, and the big letters are capital also at the start of the some of the sentence it has a big capital letter and that's what most magazine/newspapers have.

This one is really interesting its different from the usual featured article you'll see in most magazines, its layout is very creative. There's text everywhere and different fonts of letters and it looks like the main piece of information is on the bottom in the green background. It also consists the same colour which is green and they even put a picture of a tree which is green and it blends well with the whole article.

This one is quite basic because it looks like a typical featured article, I like the layout of this article it looks very clear and its set out properly like, you have the title on the top 'viva vino' and its in big capital letters and also has a picture near it. It has different pictures in the middle of the texts and the texts are quite small but that's because its all the information. There's also a brief about this article and its red and that's like its carrying on the colour scheme because its part of the title.

Existing Poverty/Pollution Articles
I am looking at existing poverty and pollution magazines to give me an idea of how i want my front cover to look like as i can get inspiration from them but make it my own.

I found these existing pollution articles from different companies and they all have their own style. The 'TIME' front cover are good they are all creative when they use the pictures because the photos used here are all effective, and they used cartoon effects in some of them which can also be effective for children. The text is important information when they are in capital letters like 'our filthy seas' that is eye catchy to the audience. The 'PERREAULT' cover is good, they used a globe which shows pollution around the world which gives a clear message to people. The next front cover 'POST' is effective as it has a picture of factories blowing smoke and everyone knows that factories are the main cause of pollution. The text has different styles sand fonts some of them in capital because they want to catch your attention.
Different Poverty Articles:
I found these existing poverty magazines covers and i can see that they all have one big main image which relates to the topic. Newsweek cover has a baby with tears and that can be effective as they are children and no one wants to see them suffer. The cover 'yes' has a different approach to all of the magazines the vibe is happy and the title says 'The end of poverty' which is sending out a positive message.

Magazine Designers
I have looked at different magazine designers and I think all of their magazines are good and creative, and I chose three of them to talk about.
Neville Brody-

These are all magazines that he has created and most of them involve celebrities like, Madonna and Sade. He uses celebrities to promote or endorse a product and they know that people know them so they would be interested to pick up this magazine.
Vince Frost-

These are different articles by Vince Frost and i can see the way he laid it out and it will help and inspire me to make them like that. I like how the texts have different fonts in them like, some of the letters are big and and small or capital. They also have a color scheme all of them above, they are all red and black and that is consistent throughout all of them.
Tibor Kalman-

These are magazine covers by Tibor Kalman and they are quite simple because they don't have much texts on them like magazine normally do like cover lines. These magazine has one main image and that takes up most of the front cover and the title 'colors' is in capital and in big font which is also noticeable.
